Jazz in Lap

As the host of an authentic jazz festival that bursts with superb and diverse performances, the lapidarium of the Poreč Heritage Museum traditionally attracts numerous jazz lovers.

Every Wednesday in July and August, jazz admirers get to enjoy wonderful concerts at the picturesque lapidarium of the Poreč Heritage Museum. Ever since 1996, Jazz in Lap has been offering an impressive range of global jazz forms, from chamber jazz and intricate performances by local and international jazz musicians, to combinations with other music genres. The programme always starts at 9 pm, and all concerts are free of charge.

The diversity and quality of the jazz festival programme vouches for a playful music summer in Poreč. Dance performances on the main square contrasted by chamber music concerts in the intimate ambiance of the lapidarium, authentic music expressions explored through jazz, improvisations by skilled instrumentalists and contributions from numerous local musicians all bring an air of freshness and creativity to the programme, perfectly complemented by the festival’s visual identity.

As typical of jazz, the festival blends different styles into a one-of-a-kind fusion of artistic performances. And they all have one thing in common – an impressive play of sounds in search of free expression. Besides featuring a top-quality offer, the festival also encourages composers to realise their artistic potential, promotes Poreč, and brings together artists and ever-growing audiences. Its devoted fans have had the privilege to enjoy, comment on and discuss jazz for more than a quarter-century, and each summer they are joined by numerous curious tourists, fascinated with the offer.

At Jazz in Lap, everyone will find their place under the open sky and surrender to the energy of music.
