Life in the Mediterranean has always taken place more on the streets than inside homes. Streets were where people met, talked, courted, argued and sang, and although they may not have been aware of it, streets and squares were a kind of stage. Modern times have brought new habits, but the desire for lively streets and encounters has remained the same. Street Art aims to bring Poreč’s streets, squares and promenades back to life – through dance, street theatre, music and many other forms of artistic expression.
Street Art Poreč began its artistic and tourist journey in 2001 as a street art festival that every August brings together carefully selected artists and transforms the streets and squares of Poreč into a vibrant open-air stage. This year’s edition of the festival will take place from 24 to 29 August at various attractive locations in the historic centre of Poreč, where visitors will have the opportunity to encounter numerous artists and enjoy their imaginative performances.
Street Art Poreč is an open-format festival that includes all forms of artistic expression – from musical and theatrical performances and visual art projects to street acrobatics and performances.
The festival’s acts amaze, entertain, surprise and sometimes even intrigue, but they always attract attention and bring joy to both local audiences and the many visitors to the city. During Street Art Poreč, every corner of the city can become a stage, every building or monument a backdrop, and every passer-by an interested observer or even an active participant.
