Poreč Welcomes the First Groups of Tourists

Poreč opened this year's tourist season and welcomed the first larger groups of tourists with festivities in mind during the Easter holiday.  The days-long holiday festivities on Poreč's Freedom Square (Trg Slobode) were marked by Easter celebrations, music and breakfast for locals and guests.  During the holiday celebrations the city centre became a lively meeting place for all generations.

The holiday program began at the Square in the early morning hours of Good Friday with the opening of the exhibit of traditional products from Istria and a typical Croatian breakfast followed by a banquet for all those present that went on until later the hours of the afternoon when children were invited to participate in colouring a huge Easter Egg.  The holiday atmosphere continued all day Saturday when visitors could try delicacies prepared during open-air workshops while Trio Mediterraneo provided musical notes.

Easter in Poreč began with an Easter mass celebration in the unique Euphrasian Basilica and continued with a banquet including the traditional Istrian breakfast in the central city square.  A wide array of delicacies impressed numerous tourists and the atmosphere was made even more special by the Sv. Lovreč Brass Band and folklore dancers.

Visitors took the opportunity to tour the city and purchase Easter decorations and Easter eggs during Easter Monday in Poreč and in this way ended their relaxing and sunny long weekend in Istria.
