Enjoy a unique project that combines care for the undersea and tourism and become a SeaStar Hero - explore the undersea, have fun and do a good deed for nature, while at the same time achieving numerous benefits!
We offer you the opportunity to discover the Poreč Riviera and its underwater world in a completely new way – you can do good, win prizes, and become a famous SeaStar Hero. As part of our tourist offer, you can do a good deed for our planet while showing that caring for nature can be fun, stimulating, and accessible to everyone. Engage in collecting waste from the sea and preserving the marine environment in a fun way.
How to participate?
Track down the locations to pick up your equipment at Poreč Riviera's destinations: in Poreč at one of six Blue Flag beaches (Špadići – Materada, Donji Špadići, Gradsko kupalište 1, Gradsko kupalište 2, Brulo Beach, and Lotosi Beach), at Blue Flag beaches in Funtana (Bijela Uvala Beach and Valkanela Camp), and in Tar-Vabriga (Santa Marina Beach).
Participating is easy - just contact the person in charge of the project or the lifeguard responsible for beach safety, announce your participation, pick up a net and protective gloves, and start diving and removing waste from the sea. Every diver who brings back the equipment and the surfaced waste to the person in charge on the beaches wins a symbolic award in the form of a badge whereas divers who collect a larger amount of waste win a t-shirt. Participants who win the t-shirt also earn the SeaStar Hero title, which grants them benefits in catering facilities throughout the city for one day. The initiative is co-financed by the Croatian Tourist Board and the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency. In their selfless contribution to environmental protection, SeaStar Heroes are supported by the Tourist boards of Poreč, Funtana, and Tar- Vabriga the City of Poreč, Usluga Poreč, Plava Laguna, Maistra, Valamar and WWF Adria, as well as restaurateurs and local craftsmen throughout the city.
