Parenzana, once a popular narrow path connecting Trieste and Poreč along its winding trail, was primarily used for the transportation of wine. Today it is an attractive pedestrian and biking path riddled with numerous tunnels and viaducts, which leave cyclists, hikers, runners and searchers simply breathless. The most famous Istrian path invites you to, while cycling or hiking along the sections of its magnificent route, be a part of an event that brings together natural beauties and recreation under the spring sun.
We are inviting all cyclists and hikers to join us for a recreational gathering which will be held on SUNDAY, 3 May 2020 in Baredine near Nova Vas in Poreč.
Equip yourself and bring along your good mood, invite your loved ones and join a day of adventure in roaring along the centennial Parenzana paths!
MOUNTAIN BIKING
- START AND FINISH: the Baredine Cave
- Time: 10.00 am
- Total biking route 10 km, 25 km and 30 km
- The easiest and shortest 10 km route is intended for the youngest participants (recommended age 7 +) of this year's Parenzana which will, apart from the once operating railway, go through vineyards along the tracks
- The easier mountain biking ride will also follow the former railway tracks in part, then continue on the light macadam road through vineyards and along local roads for 25 km in total
- The more difficult mountain biking ride is for more experienced bike riders. It will follow the former railway tracks only in part and then continue through fields of vines, through olive groves and Dubrava forest, one of the last big forests in Istria in the total length of 30 km
- MTB is a must for cyclists
- Helmet and a spare inner tube are recommended
- Helmet is obligatory for participants under 16
- Participants assume full responsibility
- All participants must adhere to marshals' instructions as well as to traffic signs along the road route
HIKERS
- START AND FINISH: Baredine Cave
- Time: 10.15 am
- Total length of the circular route 5 km
- Participants assume full responsibility
*Organized bus transport – only for walkers:
- 9.30 am Bus station Poreč → Baredine Cave
- 15.00 pm Baredine Cave → Bus station Poreč
- After crossing the finish line, lunch, entertainment and a free tour of the cave and the Tractor Museum will be organized for all participants in Baredine
- Any potential postponement alert will be published on the website and social networks of the event no later than 3 days prior to the event
- The organizer reserves the right to change the programme
